Installasjon til 17. mai.
Den 17. mai 2024 laget Mikado arkitektur en installasjon på Den Franske skolen i Oslo (Lycée francais René Cassin Oslo) i forbindelse med feiringen av den norske nasjonaldagen.
Tanken bak installasjonen var å lage en form for romlig avgrensning som ga følelsen av å stå beskyttet under noe samtidig som man fortsatt kunne nyte sol og blå himmel.
For the Norwegian national day celebration the 17th of May 2024, Mikado arkitektur designed an installation at the French school in Oslo.
The idea behind the installation was to create a kind of spatial boundary that produced the notion of standing protected underneath something while simultaneously enjoying the sun and blue sky.
Ballonger rødt, hvitt og blått i tre ulike størrelser ble fylt med helium og festet i forskjellig høyde og avstand til hverandre langs lange fiskeliner. LInene ble strukket på ca 4 meters høyde mellom to bygg, slik at ballongene dannet en svevende konstellasjon over en bestemt del av skolegården.
Ballonger assosieres ofte med barn, glede og frihet. Dette er også noe av det vi assosierer med nasjonaldagen i Norge.
Red, white and blue balloons in three different sizes were filled with helium and mounted at different heights and distances from each other along long fishing lines. The lines were stretched at a height of approximately 4 metres between two buildings so that the balloons formed a floating constellation above a designated part of the school yard.
Balloons are often associated with children, joy and freedom. These are also some of the things we associate with the Norwegian national day.
Fargene på ballongene er både de norske fargene og de franske og kunne på den måten både være en hyllest til Norge og symbolisere Den Franske skolen sin plass blant de norske skolene og i det norske samfunnet.
The colours of the balloons are both the Norwegian and French colours, thus paying tribute to Norway while simultaneously symbolising the French school’s place among Norwegian schools and in the Norwegian society.
